Important Updates on the Progress of the Girls’ School

Dear Friend of West End School,

Thank you for your support of the West End School.

We’d like to share some important updates on the progress of the Girls’ School!

Ultimate Bourbon Raffle: A reminder that there’s less than one week left in the Ultimate Bourbon raffle that will help us close the funding gap for the Girls’ School project. Get your ticket before the raffle closes on Thursday, June 20th at 10 am at www.ultimatebourbonraffle.org. So far, we have raised $9.85 million of the $11.4 million needed for the project. Your continued support through the Bourbon Raffle is crucial in helping us reach our goal.

Construction Progress: Following the successful groundbreaking on April 24, 2024, our construction team has been hard at work. They have established utility services, poured the concrete for the foundation, and started demolishing buildings for the future West End Park.

Anticipated Opening: We anticipate opening the Girls’ School in August 2025 with four classes: PreK, K, 1st, and 2nd grade. Each year thereafter, we will add a new class. Here are some key updates:

The building will feature eight classrooms. In the upcoming months, we will share the classroom design, ensuring prudent use of funding while incorporating best practices in educational design.

We have appointed a Girls’ Advisory Board to guide us on unique considerations for educating girls. While we have successfully educated young men, we value insights from experienced educators of girls.

As the new girls’ building will be on our current athletic field, we are constructing a new field across 36th street. We have purchased nine out of ten mostly vacant properties and are currently demolishing them.

High-Level Milestones:

July 2024: Concrete and foundation complete

August 2024: Structural steel framing complete

January 2025: Building shell complete

June 2025: Project complete

August 2025: Open for students!

Thank you for your continued dedication to our mission. Together, we are proving there is genius in every neighborhood.

Warm regards,

Dr. Greg Ross
