West End School (WES) is a scholarship-based, independent, PK- 8th grade school with a mission to provide a safe, structured environment for boys in which academic rigor, character development, and responsible action establish the foundation for a purposeful life. Our Middle School students board at the school Sunday evenings through Friday afternoons, creating a unique educational experience for the young men and the teachers.

Teacher Job Description:
The responsibilities for a Teacher of West End School include:
- Engage students in rigorous instruction combined with curriculum activities and instructional objectives that are standards-based, measurable, and accelerate the transfer of learning and knowledge
- Create and execute rigorous and engaging long-term, quarterly, weekly, daily, and lesson-specific lesson plans, specifically making them relevant for our boys and young men of color Set clear short-term and long-term goals to drive instruction
- Model and infuse the values of West End School–trust, honesty, forgiveness, respect and perseverance–into the curriculum
- Maintain a productive, safe, neat, and focused learning environment
- Execute and maintain appropriate student-centered dįscipline techniques and effective classroom management strategies to maximize student learning and time-on-task
- Create and provide meaningful and frequent assessments to determine students’ growth and mastery levels
- Monitor student progress and adjust instructional materials and strategies to provide differentiated instruction and address individual needs o f students
- Provide opportunities for re-teaching, remediation, and enrichment as necessary to ensure the growth and success of all students
- Keep parents and guardians well- informed about students’ progress
- Participate in school-wide events ( some of these may be in evenings and /or weekends)
- Actively engage in faculty meetings and professional development opportunities
- Perform all job related duties as assigned and in accordance to rules, policies and regulations, together with exhibiting high professionalism, standards of conduct and work ethic
- Other duties as assigned (may include lunch/morning/afternoon supervision, etc.)
Education and Experience:
- A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university (Minimal requirement)
- At least 2 years of full-time teaching experience
- Successful experience working with boys of color from low-income backgrounds
