Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer at West End School!
As part of our reading intervention team, volunteers are asked to commit 2 hours of their time two times per week to assist students using the Barton Reading and Spelling system. The Barton method is learned through online video education and is an evidence based practice for improving reading skills especially for students who are below grade level in their current reading skills.
Spending time with students one on one is a great way to build relationships and help our students learn. Lower school tutoring is Monday through Friday from 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM and Middle School tutors are needed Monday-Thursday from 7:30 PM to 9:00 PM in a wide variety of areas including math, science, English, French and History.
Our lower school students participate in a wide range of after school enrichment activities that benefit from the support of our dedicated volunteers. Aftercare is Monday-Friday 3:30 PM to 5:30 PM.
A sponsor may purchase meals or serve in our own kitchen. For more information please contact our office at (502) 776-5236.
